PRESS RELEASE
DON QUIXOTE IN WILLIAMSON PARK, LANCASTER
Preparations are underway for one of the most unique and exciting events in the theatre calendar, the Dukes’ open-air theatre production in Williamson Park, Lancaster, 2000.
Dukes staff are currently preparing sets, costumes plus all the technical requirements for Don Quixote before rehearsals start in mid June 2000.
Audiences travel from far and wide to experience the unrivalled theatrical productions that are an integral part of the Dukes’ year-round programme. The beautiful setting of Williamson Park, the magnificent scenery of the Lakeland Hills across Morecambe Bay, the sunset at the end of the evening make for an unforgettable experience.
For a large-scale event, this is one of the most enjoyable and involving ways to watch theatre, with the audience following the action from one scene to another. Don Quixote is Dukes Artistic Director Ian Hastings’ first outdoor production and he brings to it a relaxed artistic understanding which will give a new vibrancy to the whole event. Ian plans "a true walkabout production", in which no-one is far from the fast-moving action.
Don Quixote casts Williamson Park as the scorching Spanish with the Lakeland Hills posing as the Spanish Sierras! If you cannot get to La Mancha this summer then make for the Dukes production in Williamson Park to see the adventures and misadventures of Don Quixote, his horse Rocinante and his long suffering manservant, Sancho Panza.
Don Quixote has been specially adapted by Les Smith and plays from 13th July until 19th August 2000, Mondays to Saturdays at 7.15pm. Call the Dukes Box Office Mon Sat 10am 8pm, for full details.
Ends 08.05.00
