The Dukes and Williamson Park present

Peter Pan

By J.M. Barrie

Adapted by Paul Sirett

Directed by Amy Leach

2 July – 7 August 2010

Each year thousands of people head to Lancaster to enjoy the biggest open-air walkabout theatre event in the UK. Peter Pan is one of the most popular stories in the history of British literature and this year The Dukes will create Neverland in the stunning surroundings of Williamson Park.

It’s the story we’ve always wanted to stage in the great outdoors but never quite known how. Thanks to the combined talents of writer Paul Sirett (Rat Pack Confidential/The Big Life) and director Amy Leach, we now know how, but we won’t be revealing any secrets just yet. Suffice to say, we’ll need more than a sprinkling of magic fairy dust.

The timing is perfect in this, the 150th anniversary year of J.M. Barrie’s birth, to celebrate his enchanting tale of magic and bravery; pirates and fairies, sweethearts and sword fights. The story was inspired by and created for Kensington Gardens and this imagining truly will be set in the great outdoors. J.M. Barrie himself will also be playing a major role in our tale.

Peter Pan will come to life in one of the most spectacular settings in England, with views across Morecambe Bay towards the peaks of the Lake District. As the leafy dells, woodlands and grassy knolls become Neverland, the stage is set for a very special summer evening’s entertainment.

The Dukes is a pioneer of promenade theatre and this year will be celebrating 24 years of producing the event.

Recommended for everyone over the age of 5.
