Festive Feelgood Film Season This Christmas

Over the Christmas period The Dukes will be screening a festive feelgood film season that's sure to interest most, from a Sing-a-long Frozen to festive ballet there's something for everyone.


The seasonal film crackers kick off on December 13, 2015 with a screening of that most popular of festive ballets – The Nutcracker – broadcast from The Bolshoi. Tickets are priced £13/£12 concessions.

wonderful lifeThe first of four screenings of It’s A Wonderful Life(U) takes place on December 14 as part of The Dukes A Life More Ordinary (ALMO) programme of events for people with memory problems though everyone is welcome. Interval entertainment is also provided. Tickets priced £4 include tea or coffee and a pastry.

It’s A Wonderful Life tells the story of apprentice angel Clarence who aims to convince suicidal George Bailey how life would have been in his home town had he never lived. There’s more chances to see it on December 20, 23 and Christmas Eve.

muppet christmasA more modern classic – The Muppets version of Dickens Christmas Carol(U) - hits the big screen on December 21 and 22. Join Kermitand the gang together with Michael Caine in this funny retelling of the traditional tale.

scroogedAnd if you’re still feeling a bit Bah Humbug, The Dukes screens yet another version of A Christmas Carol with Bill Murray as a mean TV executive who doesn’t appreciate the festive spirit in Scrooged(PG) on December 18.

frozenThe day after, on December 19, there’s a chance to let go of all those pre-Christmas panics and sing a long to Frozen(PG) at £4 a ticket – a must for all the family.

Tickets for all the festive films, except The Nutcracker, Frozen Sing-a-long and the ALMO screening are £6.50/£5.50 concessions.

The Dukes festive films are just part of a packed December diary of seasonal entertainment which includes performances of Beauty and the Beast until January 2 and the Christmas Cabaret on December 10 and 11.
