Broughton in Furness
Broughton was first recorded as a village in the 11th century. Later, in the reign of Elizabeth I is was granted a charter to hold markets, this is proclaimed each year on 1 August in the town square. There is an agricultural show taking place at the end of August each year.
The town has many old and interesting buildings including the church.
