Newby Bridge

About a mile from the southern end of Lake Windermere, Newby Bridge is a small village on the river. One of the easiest places to reach, as you can go up the M6 to J36, then across to Newby Bridge. The road is quite good. It is an excellent base from which you can explore Windermere and the south lakes, yet have good access to further-away places.

It takes its name from the bridge - a 5-arch construction dating from 1651.
